Hurricane Dean Update

Hurricane Dean has passed and the Dawsons are all OK.

The camp has sustained some wind and water damage but fortunately most of the damage can be repaired fairly quickly and the camp will be operational in about a week. In the Manchester and Clarendon parishes, it has been reported that between 50 and 60% of the homes lost their roofs. If you would like to help provide humanitarian assistance to those who are financially unable to repair their roofs, please send an email to Hurricane@BethelMission.org for more information.

Thank you for your prayers!

Mission Statement

Bethel Christian Mission exists to bring people to Jesus Christ, to teach them His Word, and involve them in the ministry of His church within their community and around the world.

Teaching the Word

Distributed Bibles

JEMS, or Jamaica Evangelical Ministry School, which is an interdenominational lay leader training for southern Manchester parish, headed by our very own Pastor Dean Dawson, is going very well. Last spring the JEMS group finished the book of Romans and this fall will begin studying the pastoral epistles. Currently there are 14 students enrolled in the program. Two or three times each year U.S. pastors come to teach intensive week-long modules on a book of the Bible.

Spotlight On

AWANA

For the past 3 years Bethel has helped in the start up of 16 clubs in the parish of Manchester and the surrounding area and assisted them in purchasing their initial books, shirts & game kits. We encourage each church that holds a Vacation Bible School summer program to come to an AWANA introductory session and then decide if they would like to add this program to their children’s ministry schedule.

We are pleased to announce the start of the Bethel AWANA Club! The need arose after the only Newport area club was not re-newed for 2006 and we were so encouraged how our Timothy’s rose to the challenge and are administrating the program! Kenrick is the Commander and Kenroy is the Assistant Commander. We currently have 40 children enrolled and 5 trained leaders from 2 local churches.
